For new entrants
Non-Domestic Energy Assessment Diploma (DipNDEA)
New entrants or existing Domestic Energy Assessors/Home Inspectors will be expected to follow the formal Diploma in Non-Domestic Energy Assessment route to qualification. Domestic Energy Assessors and Home Inspectors will not have to complete 2 of the required training modules as these will have been covered in their previous DEA/HI course.
The Diploma qualification is available in 3 distinct Levels and candidates must consider which is the most appropriate for their requirements.
Level 3 – for simple existing buildings with commonly occurring characteristics that can be modelled using approved SBEM software such as BuildDesk Carbon Checker. This qualification level covers the majority of the commercial EPCs required by the market.
Level 4 – for both new and more complex existing buildings that can be modelled using approved SBEM software such as BuildDesk Carbon Checker.

The training will include either a comprehensive 5 or 7 day training course with practical work. At the end of the training candidates will be required to pass a formal ABBE Board examination held under examination conditions at the BRE.
Level 5 – for the most complex new and existing buildings that will need to be modelled using Dynamic Simulation methods. SBEM software such as BuildDesk Carbon Checker, is not suitable for this category of building.
