Dwellings - Technical Standard J (J3)
There are 3 alternative methods for showing compliance with the "Technical  Standard J (J3): Conservation of Fuel & Power in Dwellings (2001 edition)":

- the Elemental Method,
- the Target U-Value Method, and
- the Carbon Index Method.

In addition to meeting these compliances, building warrant applications for all new build dwellings (including those formed by Material Change of use) are also required to include an energy rating calculation in

accordance with the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP 2001). Approved software programmes are able to calculate C02 emissions, expressed as The Carbon Index.
